Aquabiotech manufactures titanium heat exchanger chiller barrels for large aquatic exhibits, lobster holding systems and commercial processing applications.

The Ti-HXU series, heat exchangers are designed for large aquatic exhibit temperature control; featuring titanium U-tube design in a 10" diameter shell, 5 or 10 feet in length. Because the entire front end of the U-tube exchangers is made of titanium they are well suited for water to water and direct expansion cooling applications in harsh environmental conditions. Aluminum mounts are available for the Ti-HXU series of heat exchangers for mounting on floors or on walls.

Sizing chiller barrels

The following recommendations are just general guidelines; many variables will influence the ultimate barrel size required. Have your HVAC technician or engineer size the equipment for your needs and your specific situation. The number part our model numbers correspond to the units capacity in tons. A Ti-HXU-10 is a 10-ton chiller barrel.

For applications requiring moderate chilling, for example a drawdown of ~-10oC from ambient 20oC, it is recommended you select a chiller barrel of a capacity one size greater than your refrigeration unit. A 25-ton refrigeration unit should be combined to a 30-ton chiller barrel.

For applications requiring heavy chilling, for example a drawdown of ~-15oC from ambient 20oC, it is recommended you select a chiller barrel of a capacity two sizes greater than your refrigeration unit. A 25-ton refrigeration unit should be combined to a 35-ton chiller barrel.
