Phase 1 of the project involves the integration of a shower system into the two existing pools. The total capacity of both pools will increase from the current 25,000 lb to 52,600 lb. Following the overlay of the shower system with the floating bins, the support capacity of these holding systems reaches the exceptional value of 96 lbs per square foot of pond.
Phase 2 consists of the installation of a new heated and refrigerated pond, referred to as pond # 3. The total support capacity for this pond is 59,200 lbs of live lobster, 42,000 lbs placed under shower and 17,200 lbs floating (Logtek). The objectives for this tank are:
- Increase the storage capacity and flexibility of the building;
- Heat the water by 6 °C at the beginning of the season (at 10 °C), until the sea water reaches 8 °C, to facilitate the processing of lobster;
- Maintain the livewell temperature between 8 ° C and 10 ° C for the rest of the fishing season;
- Extend the stabling from 3 weeks to one month after the fishing season, by lowering the temperature of the water.
